A Zoom Community Building Event
Last summer a post in Seattle Dancing Buddies surfaced the idea of offering a Zoom group to provide an opportunity to see each other and catch up on how each of us is doing. NDN’s vision “Creating community one step at a time”, is as important as ever in these trying times. We are still very much a community even if we have not been dancing with each other.
Your response to this idea was strong and positive and thus was born “Dance Hygge” a facilitated, non-dance event for dancers, designed to allow connection and support through our sense of community. The term “Dance Hygge” draws from a Norwegian and Danish term (pronounced hue-guh or hig-ge) meaning a kind of coziness that evokes feelings of contentment and well-being.
Who: NDN Dance Community
What: 1 hour 15-minute Zoom Group Experience, combining whole group and small group discussions
Why: To keep our connection solid and to support each other during this time of social distancing and isolation. While there are difficulties and struggles in this season, that will not be the focus of the group. We will share what is working, and learn from each other. The January 27″ group experience is intended for new participants/first timers only. (If you have attended one of these sessions in the past, take heart, a follow-up session for experienced “Dance Hyggers” will be coming soon)
When: Wednesday, January 27, 2021 7:00pm-8:15pm
NOTE: Group size is limited to 16 persons per date
How: Participation will require a computer/smart device and internet access (1 person per screen)
Additional info: The group will be facilitated by Vicki Sween, who has experience leading groups, and who danced with us in the early 2000s. It is important to note this planned group experience is not a forum for therapy nor political discussion.
Registration: Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Registration will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis. (If demand exceeds capacity, future dates may be offered)
Dance Hygge Message to Registrants:
You will be sent a link when you are successfully registered.
- The Zoom “door” will open at 6:45 to allow you to settle in, get visual and audio techie stuff in order. The discussion will begin promptly at 7:00.
- Due to the nature of the group, latecomers will NOT be admitted.
- One person per screen/device
- Bring paper and writing utensil
- This will be an interactive experience. Attendees are asked to attend with your video “on” so that we may see each other (rather than a screen with just a name).
**Because group size is limited, please contact us if something happens and you will NOT be able to participate**
