Washboard Cutups is the band you would have heard in the back room of a speakeasy during Prohibition. Northwest Dance Network is excited to have them back for some great dancing. Percussionist and singer Mike Daugherty (Yes Yes Boys, Blue 4 Trio, Gigantor, Black Crabs) has formed the hottest new band in the Northwest to play blues, stomps, rags, and early jazz for your listening and dancing pleasure.
Mike is excited to feature these fine musicians: Bert Barr plays the hot cornet and has been the leader of the Uptown Lowdown Jazz Band for over 45 years! Dave Loomis blows the slide trombone and has been playing traditional jazz since he was a teenager. Banjoist Kevin Johnston started playing at the tender age of 5 in his family band. At 10, he opened for the legendary Eddie Peabody. Taylor Kent is the youngest band member, but plays the bass and tuba like an old pro. He recently left the Spokane Symphony to play hot jazz in Seattle. While the Washboards are great to listen too, we will be dancing – some fast Swing, One Step, and hopefully some sultry Blues.
