Raised on Vashon Island by a musical family with deep southern roots, Cajun and zydeco music has always been central to Danny and David Salonen. In Bayou Envie – Cajun French for Bayou Craving or Bayou Envy, depending on how you’re feeling – the Salonen brothers team up with Seattle zydeco veteran, Kevin Kilmartin, and New Orleans funk and jazz drum maven, Tai Taitano, to form a pocket that lives with one foot in the music’s rich history and the other in its captivating and evolving present. Commanding that energy is the indomitable accordion sensation, Mr. Mark Myking, together bringing Cajun and zydeco music to a new generation of young folks, and reminding genre old-timers why they fell in love with it.
