with who?

Jodi Fleischman & Sean DonovanJodi & Sean

Known for her warm and playful teaching style, Jodi loves sharing her passion for all things dance (over 17 years now!). What matters to Jodi (a Pacific Northwest Grand Champion Lindy Hopper who has studied and taught dance internationally) is the heart, the music and the connection with another on the dance floor. Sean brings positive good fun, creativity, and a keen intuition to help dancers find ever more joyful, fluid movement and a fundamental connection -- to themselves, the music, and their partne -- that makes for spontaneous, ecstatic dancing.

MaryLee Lykes & Dean PatonLeah FastDean Paton

MaryLee began teaching dance in Seattle 16 years ago….and hasn’t stopped since! Her dancing expertise includes: Swing, Waltz, Blues, Zydeco, Cajun, and Western Swing and Two Step. MaryLee co-founded the Swing and Lindy Hop dance instruction organization Swing Girls in 1992, taught for Living Traditions, and founded her own dance instruction business, Lykes to Dance, in 1998. She teaches extensively on a local, national, and international level. Dean believes in building a foundation—for any endeavor, but particularly when it comes to learning how to dance in the arms of another: “Balance, appropriate frame, hearing the music, small steps and connecting well with your partners—these basics are what make possible all those cool moves you want to do.”

Patti Conley & Marc Imlay Patti & Marc

Marc Imlay has been dancing since 1998. Professionally, he has been a yoga/meditation instructor since 1973, a chiropractor since 1981, and an acupuncturist since 1988. Marc brings his interest and experience in kinesiology, energy flow, and mindful expanded consciousness to his dancing and instruction. Marc’s philosophy of dance is, “Dance is play for adults. Adults need to play just as much as children do, or even more. Dance is not just enjoyable, it is one of the most healthy things a person can do. It is excellent exercise, a means of interacting positively with others, and an avenue of self-development and learning that is virtually endless. All these have been shown to increase health, happiness, and longevity.”

Patti Conley has been totally immersed in partner dancing since 1997 and has “loved every minute of it.” She is a community college teacher by profession. She understands the learning process and likes to share her own learning experiences. Patti particularly enjoys teaching beginning level dance. “Our students have taken the first step by enrolling in a dance class. We want to ensure that they have a fun, positive experience. We want them to feel successful while they build their confidence. We want them to see what a great activity, what a great hobby dancing is.”

the bands

The Band

Double Scotts on othe Rocks
Revel Saturday night with an exceptionally talented, fresh and super dance-able band playing swingin’ blues, rock, New Orleans-inspired R&B and sweet, slow mashers. Scott Lind is an amazingly inspired, award winning guitarist who plays like his life depended on it, and like he’s going to save you, too, in the process. Scotty Harris plays saxophone with such awesome, moving feeling it’ll make you want to either cry or shout for joy—but either way it’ll kick your groove into high gear. Chris Leighton keeps the whole rhythmic love fest super tight and together on drums, and Lissa Ramaglia lays down the bassline (both standup and electric) and provides vocals so smokin’ they’ll almost make you want to stop dancing and just stand and gape.

jj zydeco JJ & the Zydeco Dogpound

Young and fresh, JJ & the Zydeco Dogpound has been on the SW Louisiana scene since 2004, jamming with a mixture of Creole, R&B, Hip Hop, Jazz and Blues. Performing high energy zydeco, the band is introducing their music to other regions with a tour celebrating the release of their second album, “Brand New Feelin.”
