37th Annual NORTHWEST FOLKLIFE FESTIVAL -
May 23-26 - Friday through Monday

This is the annual free climactic celebration of year-round ethnic, folk, and traditional arts activities produced by Northwest Folklife. The Folklife Festival is Seattle's unofficial leap into summer, with four days of jam-packed excitement. Artists from the Pacific Northwest along with special guests from throughout the world create an ethnic extravaganza embracing music and dance performances, visual arts and folklore exhibits, hands-on ethnic children's activities, symposia, dance and music workshops, crafts, food, imported goods, demonstrations of traditional arts, and more! The exuberant tradition of sharing and participation at the Festival encourages exploration and learning between participants and public alike.

Class Dance Party & Fundraiser
- May 29 - Thursday
Dance 7:00-10 pm (at the Swedish Cultural Center - 1920 Dexter Ave N)
FREE recorded music dance (with DJ Gator Boy, Sean Donovan and Jodi Fleischman). There will be mini lessons, faculty demonstrations, and lots and lots of dancing! (to a wide variety of music). Please bring a snack or sweet to share, and encourage your family and friends to come and see what all the fun is about! NO CHARGE. No alcohol please.

Pine Leaf Boys -
June 28 - Saturday •
at the Swedish Cultural Center
Grammy nominated, world class Cajun & Creole music from south Louisiana, rendered with outrageous talent, energy and style. Expect Cajun two-steps, waltzes, and exuberantly swingin’ numbers from the group described as “the link that connects the young and the old generations.” They will also be playing at the Highway 99 Blues Club and Fiddle Tunes while in town, and we’ll be accommodating their inimitable gusto with a big dance floor! WorkshopHigh-energy quartet mixing Cowboy swing with west-of-the-Pecos two-steps (think Roy Rogers doing Foxtrot).
Note: Admission will be $20 for the dance and workshop, and refreshing beverages will be available for purchase.

One of the best keyboard players in the West, Eric “Two Scoops” Moore brings joy to every dance hall. He can play anything—and will: swing, rhythm an’ blues, cha-chas, waltzes. A great summer party band.
